The Basics of Online Blackjack

Blackjack, also known as twenty-one by some, is perhaps one of the most popular casino card games of all time. This is most likely because the game has virtually no learning curve, anyone can play, no real skill is required, and with a bit of practice the odds can actually be manipulated in your favor!
The goal of online blackjack is to have the cards in your hand add up to a number that is equal or closer to 21 than the dealer’s cards. These rules apply to all of the people at the table during the game. The dealer is the only opponent, with all of the players at the table trying to get the closest hand to 21. With each turn that passes you can choose to either draw a card or stay. If you go over 21 then that s called a bust.
The value of each card is determined differently depending upon the card’s rank. Cards with numbers o them are taken at face value, so a 3 would equal 3 points. Royal cards are scored specially, with the Jack, Queen and King being worth 10 points.
While the game may seem unfair because you are playing against a dealer, the reality is you have an advantage because in casinos dealers are required to follow a set strategy! In most casinos the dealer is required to hit when their hand equals sixteen or less, giving you the advantage of knowing what the dealer’s next move is in certain situations.
At the end of each hand whoever has the closest number to 21 wins the hand. The game is scored in rounds, so whoever wins the most rounds will usually win the game of online blackjack. There are many advanced strategies that can help you play blackjack more efficiently, but the above information should help you get started playing online blackjack at one of the many online casinos.
