Blackjack – Luck vs Skill

With online casinos garnering so much attention lately, it is easy to see why a lot of emphasis has been put on blackjack, one of the most popular casino card games. Blackjack is very different form any other card game because it combines strategy, skill and odds to create the perfect mixture of fun, anticipation and excitement. There is an ongoing debate amongst newer blackjack players in regards to the source of a blackjack player’s success.
Some believe that blackjack is a game of skill, and that ultimately it can be manipulated if you know how to execute advanced strategies such as card counting. Others believe that the game is pure luck and that no skill is required to win. The fact is, both of these viewpoints are right in certain situations, but the ladder only applies to short term success.
While it is true that a completely novice blackjack player can win a game without any strategy or skill, it should be noted that this will not happen consistently if that player is matched against professional blackjack players for many games in a row. After a while you will begin to see a pattern emerge, in which the more experienced players make the right decisions and ultimately win more hands. These players user tricks and strategies to keep track of the games odds, knowing when to hit and when to stand based on the amount of cards that are in play and how many are in the deck.
